THE BROTHERS

Two brains that find everything interesting

TCBSI exists to highlight the weird, secretly fascinating things hiding inside ordinary stuff. We're Tom and Ben. Brothers, which means nobody in this podcast is polite enough to let a bad idea slide, and nobody's ever finished a sentence without being interrupted by a better tangent.

01 / TOM

The one without the cap

Tom is the one who reads a wikipedia article at midnight and wakes up at 4am, nine layers deep, an expert in Victorian sewer engineering. He builds things for a living and dismantles ideas for fun. If an episode suddenly swerves into "okay but how does that actually work", that was Tom grabbing the wheel.

02 / BEN

The cap. The glasses. The moustache.

Ben is the one who asks the question nobody thought to ask, usually right when the conversation seemed finished. The cap has never been observed leaving his head; scientists are divided on whether it can. If an episode suddenly swerves into "okay but what if the opposite is true", that was Ben. He was probably right.

The secret ingredient: our brains don't filter

Most people's brains helpfully sort the world into "relevant" and "ignore". Ours don't, and honestly it's the best thing about the show. Neurodivergent attention means everything arrives at the same volume: the big philosophical question and the fact about wombat poo get equal billing. That's not a bug. That's the format.

So when we say this could be something interesting, we mean it literally. All of it. Everything. That's the problem. That's the show.

Show statistics, loosely defined

  • 09episodes recorded
  • 847*tangents survived (*estimate, rising)
  • 01cap, never removed (Ben's)

Got something our brains should refuse to filter out?
